And it begins?

I’ll have to hold off on comments for this little bit of news until I get home and get a chance to check things out, but I figured I’d throw it out now.
EMI, Apple partner on DRM-free premium music
All I can say is ‘WOW!’
Filed in: News.

That WOW is 2nded, Matt. I just don’t kow what to make of it. What’s the anlge?
My thoughts exactly. I’m going to wait a couple of days before getting to happy about this. Let those smarting then me crawl over this.
There have been some rumors for awhile now that the DRM camps at the corporate labels were starting to loose favor. So this could just be the corporate labels finally coming around to the reality. You’ll excuse me if I don’t get to cocky just yet though.
The real suprise here was the timing. This has been expected, but very few people thought it would happen this quickly. I suppose Jobs’ challenge to the industry carried more weight than was realized. Of course, his concession to charge more than a buck for DRM-free tunes probably helped.
I’m interested to see how Apple implements this in iTunes. It may open a line of attack for hackers on the stuff that is still DRMed. Of course, if the rest of the industry follows suit, it’ll be moot.
All I can say is “hmmmmmmmm.”
