[...] I’ve already talked about my feelings on the issue near the end of this post. There was a comment in the discussion from DJ Luna Lovegood that caused me a certain degree of thought. last summer i was hashing thru the idea that it’s funny how people expect musicians, particularly, to almost volunteer their work as if it’s their duty. ie.’you have talent-perform now!’ i came up with the comparison of being a secretary, ‘you type, type now-no pay’ that wouldn’t fly. or you work on cars, fix my car, for nothing!
Good points, and I'm mostly onboard with them.

"myspace sucks" well, yes. However, that's besides the point. myspace has become the de facto place to check out bands, so lacking at least a cursory myspace presence is a detriment. People are going to look for you there. Best if you are there. (Contrary to popular belief, you are not required to put up a background that makes your text illegible.)

"...I’ve noticed that a lot of the nerdcore tracks on myspace do not have downloading enabled" I'm not sure what's up with that either. I've got two modes, active (surfing) and passive (listening). Unlike Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, they don't go well together. I've skipped many bands because I didn't have the option to review their stuff at my leisure.

Bingo on the 'tapers' tax.' (Actually wasn't familiar with that term--always used the marketing-speak "goodwill.")

Nice to come across a Minutemen ref. Did I mention you suck?
